JOHN CHAKA

John joined us as a resident at the end of this year. He has a BFA and MA. He is currently persuing his MFA at West Texas A&M University. John utilizes lithography and serigraphy to make his prints.

"My work and imagery are a response to spiritual and practical concerns within my walk of faith. I prefer to express myself through personal conviction, celebration and rebuke. I try to energize the flat surface of the paper by creating images that hint toward an objective tangibility. I do this to express my belief that the unseen elements in our lives manifest themselves through the seen world around us. I want to find the symbiosis between the ethereal and the tangible as well as find the place where religiosity ends and spirituality begins."
